Fundings in Italy

Name of programme:

Parco Agrisolare 2024

Aim/purpose of funding:

The Parco Agrisolare 2024 tender promotes innovation and sustainability through the integration of photovoltaic solar energy for agricultural and agro-industrial companies. The aim is to create new plants with a capacity of at least 1.04 gigawatts that produce clean energy and support agricultural activities.

  • Investing in renewable energy to reduce the carbon footprint
  • Optimise the energy efficiency of farms.
  • Reducing operating costs through the use of more efficient technologies.

Type of funding:

The initiative offers non-repayable contributions that can cover up to 80% of the investment required for the installation of photovoltaic systems, thus promoting a renewable and sustainable energy approach in the agricultural sector.

Who is subsidised:

  • Individual agricultural entrepreneurs : Professionals who directly manage their own agricultural activities and are interested in integrating renewable energy solutions.
  • Agribusinesses : Legal entities operating in the agricultural sector, including those with a complex corporate structure.
  • Agro-industrial companies in the livestock sector : Companies that combine agriculture with the production and processing of animal products.
  • Agricultural co-operatives : Groups of farmers who share resources and work together to improve the efficiency and sustainability of their agricultural practices.

Funding conditions:

The costs that can be covered by the tender include a range of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability measures for buildings used in agriculture:

  • Purchase and installation of photovoltaic modules: The aim is to encourage self-production of clean energy, reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources and reduce long-term energy costs for agricultural businesses.
  • Purchase of storage battery: The purchase of energy storage systems such as batteries, which allow the energy generated by photovoltaic panels to be stored for later use, is essential. This not only increases the efficiency of the use of the solar energy generated, but also allows greater independence from the electricity grid, thus contributing to the energy resilience of the farm.
  • Removal and disposal of asbestos from roofs: The measure also aims to improve health and safety in agricultural workplaces and prepare structures for the installation of new systems, such as photovoltaic panels, safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Thermal insulation of roofs: This type of intervention helps to reduce heat loss in the winter months and keep rooms cooler in the summer, resulting in significant energy savings and greater comfort for residents.
  • Installation of a ventilation system: The funding also supports the installation of ventilation systems, which may be required following a roof replacement or as a stand-alone improvement. A proper ventilation system is essential to ensure good air quality in agricultural buildings and contribute to the health of plants, animals and operators.

Amount of funding:

The amount of the non-repayable contributions under the Parco Agrisolare tender varies depending on the geographical location and the type of activity carried out by the company, as described below:

  • Up to 80 % for primary agricultural enterprises, provided that the energy produced is intended for their own use and cannot be sold on the market.
  • Up to 80% for companies involved in the processing of agricultural products that have the right to sell the surplus energy produced.
  • Up to 50 % for primary agricultural enterprises that have the possibility to sell the energy produced on the market and are therefore not subject to the self-consumption limit.
  • Up to 50 % for companies that convert agricultural products into non-agricultural products.
  • Up to 65% for farms in the southern regions of Italy, such as Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily, which are not limited to self-consumption and can sell the energy produced on the market.

The total funds made available are divided as follows:

  • 1,200 million euros are earmarked for interventions in agricultural holdings involved in primary agricultural production;
  • 150 million euros are earmarked for measures carried out by businesses involved in the processing of agricultural products;
  • 150 million euros are earmarked for measures carried out by agricultural businesses that process agricultural products into non-agricultural products.

Duration of programme:

The tender will be open on 12/07/2024 for 1 month.
