Solar-Powered Protective Cabin for Construction Workers

Middle East

The construction company Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) has developed the world’s first 100% solar-powered protective cabin for construction workers.

PV modules supply electricity throughout the day. In the evening hours, the electricity comes from a TESVOLT battery storage system.

CCC implements construction projects in North Africa and the Middle East, so the cabin not only provides employees with a place for their office work, but also protects them from the high temperatures of the day. If the temperature outside is 50°C, the cabin offers a pleasant environment of 25°C – and maintaining this temperature requires just six hours of sunlight per day.

The solar-powered protective cabin from CCC and TESVOLT was awarded the Environmental Award 2018 by the International Pipe Line & Offshore Contractors Association.
